The only submission for the World Design Capital 2016 competition has been made by Taipei.
However, the committee in charge of the award insist it is not a given that Taipei will receive the honour.
The Taiwanese capital will still have to pass the stringent assessments by the committee to earn the title.
There were only 3 bids for the 2015 competition too, leaving the significance of the title in question.
The results of the assessment will be revealed in September.
