Design Innovation- new ways how we think and its influence on the world.

Designers might be the missing element in the Great Recovery project.  From beeswax packaging to paint that pours only one way, designers can create powerful products that would make business more sustainable.

In a way, we are the inheritance of a big mess that might be tidied up with the right resources and cooperation. This year’s offers may lead to some exciting solutions to these problems.

Some ideas are focused on longevity.  A good example would be the Aye Skipper by Samuel Hoh, which is a logistic app that enables businesses to offer clean and safe waste materials and products to their local community.  In this way it visually reduces the amount of waste. The business will save on recycling and waste costs.

On the other hand we can see examples of a shared economy. Some projects such as The Community Rail by Lee Clarke are based on leasing big items such as vacuum cleaners. It would find its place in student halls and small places where space is limited.  A person will gain space – not necessarily requiring to buy an item.  Looking at sharing solutions we can find one proposed by Joshua Dean, where you can borrow some seldom- used products from a local library.

There is no doubt that all innovations need financial support. However,  through competitions like “Student Design Awards” we encourage young people to share their design products to provide a realistic solution.
