Inspiration from Tokyo

For those who are looking for some inspiration this year, it would be a good idea to visit the Toto Gallery Ma in the Tokyo Minami-Aoyama district.

It is a unique opportunity to see  Mr. Kenzo Tange’s photo exhibition, as it shows this famous architect’s design in the course of many years . The picture selection includes more than 2300 photos starting from the year 1949. The early pictures include Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum and the former Tokyo Metropolitan government building as well as the Kagawa prefectural government building.  Editing and cropping techniques are one of the most important ones that distinguish his art.

Tange’s way of thinking as an architect is well recorded in the photos, as if they were his sketchbook.  Kyoto University Prof. Waro Kishi said.
