Newsletter and social media became a powerful tool for hospitality. However, it was unclear until now how bloggers and social media influences can have a positive effect on advertising.

New Zealand tourism organisation decided to conduct an experiment by bringing and showing to four Australian ‘social media influencers’  the best hotspots in New Zealand.  In return,  they expected that the entire journey would be shown on Instagram. This would allow sharing the invited four bloggers experiences – with online followers.

How bloggers can actually have an impact on this tourism business?

It seems that influencers in social media have many followers and sharing some amazing pictures taken while travelling – can guarantee an increase in visitors. It might sound a bit futuristic, but it takes quite some time and effort to become an influencer and those people really know what and when to post.

Return on investment

Inviting four bloggers to spend holidays in NZ might sound a costly experience, but the facts show there is a significant return on such an “investment”.  How is it possible?  Simply by sharing pictures and content through a ‘trusted’ person in social media. This is much more than just paying for advertising.  It works the same way as checking online reviews while trying to choose a proper hotel before commencing a journey.  It is a way of online advertising that targets specific people.  Addressing them might and usually increases their interest.

Basing on a 10-day adventure across the country, to a luxurious stay at a resort, there is no doubt that social influencers blogs became a vital part of a brand’s marketing mix and can effectively increase the number of visitors.
