Sultan Qaboos Bin Said has announced that from 1st May 2013 Oman’s weekend will take place on Friday and Saturday.
Changing the weekend will also make it easier to deal with the rest of the world on economic matters, particularly banking, commercial transactions and imports and exports.
Religious and national holidays also will be standardised across the public and private sectors for the first time, according to a statement issued by the Council of Ministers.
The move will bring Oman in line with other Gulf nations such as Bahrain, Qatar and the United Arab Emirates.
