House design that looks like a tree stump

An artist in Beijing has designed a unique O shaped house. He was inspired by the age-defining rings of a tree stump and decided to design a house that would be a small circular in shape house.

The wood carving design would provide customers with both a home and a workspace that should be tailored for the day-to- day use.

Architect Chris Precht explained that through the arched edges, it could be possible to keep natural light flowing downstairs. It would guarantee an extra degree of privacy and protect from harmful direct sun exposure.

It is already under construction and should be completed early next year. From above it looks like a doughnut- shaped plan. The lowest level of the building is an underground reachable by a spiral staircase. This way it is possible to bring the natural light into the basement. The highest level contains a bedroom which is half a storey above the ground-floor living room.

“ The lifted part faces  the south and inhabits the master bedroom, offering a great view over the yard” – added the architect.

The house will be located on a newly defined plot in the garden of an existing property. Exterior walls will be glazed, screened behind wooden louvers that protect the interior from direct sunlight.
