Last time we wrote about the boom of skyscrapers in London. However, news from ‘ Walkie- Talkie’ showed that reflected lights from a skyscraper could burn a car. Now we have another “hot” discovery coming directly from Shangri-La’s luxury hotel in London.
Although still not fully finished, it opened its doors to the first guests last Tuesday and straight away become known for an annoying flaw. After sunset several rooms revealed the inside views of other rooms, allowing some quests to have a free peak into another guest’s room. Nobody expected this to be possible.
The hotel will be fully completed in the coming months, including the top-floor infinity pool and champagne bar. The tower was designed by an Italian designer Renzo Piano, who included some interesting glass panels in the construction of the building. This resulted in the occurrence of the “transparency” effect, which appears primarily at night – when lights in the rooms are switched on and automatically those window panels act like mirrors. This resulting transparency gives an insight to neighbouring rooms.
The hotel management became aware of this issue and immediately added luxurious blinds to keep an adequate guest privacy level. However, as the views from the windows are spectacular, most of the quests would like to keep their blinds open to enjoy the city lights.
