Clever tablet keyboard layout

A new keyboard layout for tablets has been designed by researchers in St. Andrew’s University, Scotland.

The KALQ keyboard claims to allow users to type up to twice as quickly compared to the traditional QWERTY layout.

The new layout splits the keyboard in two, grouping the most commonly used consonants on one side of the screen and the remaining consonants and vowels on the other.

The KALQ keyboard will be available to download on to Android devices next month.  It will be a free app and customisable to user preferences.
