Only a few days are left for architects to enter this amazing competition. The deadline is on May the 2nd, 2014. It is open to all architects registered in the UK and Ireland. Interested architects would be challenged to design a low- carbon dwelling for less than £350,000. The ‘distinguished’ project would have to be a three to five bedroom, detached house and it should be a ‘Passive House’.

There is a PHPP package available in which interested parties can read more about the use of energy and the low-carbon standards. The design should be not only be buildable, but also replicable.
The judging panel will include the AJ editorial, director Paul Finch, Adam Architecture director Robert Adam, past-president of the RIBA Michael Manser and last year’s winner : Ric Frankland, director at Dwelle.

If you are missing some inspiration and would like to find out more about how to build green design – please note there is an event that is perfectly tailored for this need. Starting from April 23rd, during Green Sky Thinking event, architects will discuss the green design building trend. Architecture Paul Hinkin, and director of estates at the London School of Economics Julian Robinson, will highlight key sustainability considerations involved in designing a green building from briefing stage through practical completion. It is an exciting project consisting of more than 50 seminars on sustainable design at City Hall in London.
It is worth mentioning that London is the proper destination for architects to learn more. For the last 10 years it is a global architectural hub that includes debates and allow sto exchange architectural practice.

Don’t miss out LFA festival that will be joined by a wide range of cultural and professional organisations, including The Barbican, Museum of London, National Trust, Royal Academy of Arts, Serpentine Galleries, Sir John Soane’s Museum and V&A, staging a multitude of installations, exhibitions, citywide tours, performances, local interventions and public debates all across London. This year’s programme is so rich, that it will please any architectural lover.
